345 ship 21 Southampton 30.6.2019

Landing had been delayed and there is always only a time-slot open when high tide allows ships like this to enter the harbor. At noon we passengers left the ship, a driver of the Southampton Seafarers’ Transport service brought us to the city center. Jochen repeated his invitation, now in that form he originally had planned, in a café. Then we walked around downtown, seeing some nicely renovated buildings but also ruins damaged in WW II. After a while, we split and Jochen and I went to the Southampton Seafarers’ Center to get a ride back and to have internet access before.

At dinner time, also Jean Marc and Marie France were back and there was even a new passenger. Graham, who could speak French quite well. He just wanted to go to Dunkirk, but in the evening, we learned that we would not leave tomorrow, but a day later, again because of the earlier high tide we could not catch so we needed to wait for the next one. For me this is a bit tiresome, because I had contacted friends and hosts when I had heard that we are earlier and now we might even be later than expected
