338 Ship 14 between Crete und Malta 23.6.2019
The last two days, I slept longer than before, awakening between 5:30 and 6, and I was less tired during the day. There are 10 days left on this trip to see if this is a tendency towards calming down a bit. My foot was much better in the morning, but he even doesn’t appreciate the training on the cross-trainer. Until today I used the word ellipter instead but today I read in Wikipedia that in fact that machine is a cross-trainer. And I read that a good and healthy alternative is running back, not only on the cross-trainer, but also outside. What I didn’t know before is that there are even competitions in back running and the record for 5km is less than 20min, what I dreamed to manage in the normal way.
In the afternoon, we 4 passengers made a tour around Benjamin Franklin for filming and reporting.
Jochen had written down texts and had some ideas for direction and we accompanied him from stern to bow. We knew that the wind would make problems but later we realized that some parts were completely inaudible. My thought was to make some voice-over recordings, but this was again hard, because Jochen had to tell the same text in the same tempo without hearing the original sound while I recorded him. After two hours we gave up and decided to continue tomorrow with the overdubs and to record some parts again in more silent environment.
In this evening time, we had passed Malta on the left and Sicily on the right side. You could clearly see the lights, the next step in approaching native areas…
339 Ship 15 along Tunisia 24.6.2019
Today, I tried to find a photo selection of December and saw a photo of the sign Hà Nôi 1453km. This was after 4 days after leaving HCMC and is about the distance from Dunkirk to Vienna.
My major editing project since yesterday is the ship’s round with Jochen’s comments. He had recorded them again and now I try to fit them in in the original video.
So, not much else to tell!
340 Ship 16 along Algeria 25.6.2019
This night, I tried to sleep on my mat. In Australia, it had lost air faster and faster and later I had found to leaky spots that I finally fixed on the ship. The first test was to inflate it and within 3days there was no big loss of air. I inflated it again and when I lay down, it popped loudly, again a section dividing had torn apart. The mat looks progressively strange. Overnight, it lost air again and I could feel my hip and shoulder touching the floor. I also felt cold since going to sleep, so I gave up and went to the bed. I wonder how often I will use the mat on the way to Vienna and if it will stand those few times…
When Jochen wanted to do his daily ship-walk, he slipped at the stairs (I wanted to write about the stairs before, they are too short for adult feet, you cannot go reasonably) and dislocated his shoulder. He tries to stand the pain and restrictions until tomorrow when we reach the port and hopes that he can continue the ship’s journey after a treatment in a hospital in Algeciras. We will see if this is possible from his side, but it is the captain’s decision also. At the moment everybody wants, and nobody can help him
